As organizations accelerate AI adoption, understanding where data exists, how it moves, and how it is governed has become increasingly critical. At BioIVT, data visibility and context play a central role in how the security team approaches both risk and AI readiness.
To explore that approach, Cameron Galbraith, Vice President of Product Marketing at Cyberhaven, sat down with Chad Pallett, Acting CISO at BioIVT. In their conversation, Pallett shares how Cyberhaven DSPM helps bring transparency to BioIVT's data environment and supports the organization's evolving security strategy.

Galbraith: To start us off, can you tell us a little about your role and how you measure success as a CISO?
Pallett: My job really is to help bring the awareness of what's happening in the real world on a day to day basis. I measure success by my ability to bring transparency and real time information about what's happening across the environment.
Galbraith: Why is data security so important for BioIVT specifically?
Pallett: We are a global life science company, so we have a lot of sensitive data related to patients, businesses, and other critical elements. More importantly, we fall under multiple regulatory and compliance layers, and we have to be able to prove and audit that we are maintaining the sensitivity of that data.
Galbraith: Where does DSPM fit into that bigger picture?
Pallett: DSPM is key in the ability to rationalize all of the different elements of what's happening with your day to day information behind the scenes. A lot of people have visibility into portions of their environment, but not all the signals or a single way to track the lineage of where the true sensitivity of their data is.
Galbraith: What stood out to you about Cyberhaven's approach?
Pallett: One of the many things I love about Cyberhaven is the ability to track lineage and bring that whole history. It's been life saving on many occasions. I still have yet to see anybody that can bring that level of visibility, especially from a historic perspective.
Galbraith: Can you give an example of why that context matters?
Pallett: We've seen incidents where something looked harmless at first glance, but once you looked at what was actually in the file, it contained credentials and sensitive access information. Without that additional context and awareness, it never would have triggered the need to investigate further.
Galbraith: AI is obviously a big topic right now. How does DSPM help with AI readiness?
Pallett: DSPM is critical for any cybersecurity framework. All of the new frameworks are focusing on governance and transparency, especially understanding where and how your data is moving before you turn on AI models. The provenance that Cyberhaven provides is critical to building your data program for AI.
Galbraith: How did onboarding DSPM go for your team?
Pallett: Honestly, implementing the DSPM features was really just like flipping a switch. We refreshed a few connectors, let it reconnect, and then watched it start classifying and contextualizing data at a very impressive rate.
Galbraith: How do you communicate the value of these investments to executive leadership?
Pallett: This is really the only way we have to effectively audit and track lineage. But beyond that, it allows us to be proactive and quickly identify risk. Cyberhaven is always an easy justification because of the power it brings from visibility.
Galbraith: What role has Cyberhaven played in the maturity of your security program?
Pallett: Cyberhaven has been critical in our ability to build a mature cybersecurity program and bring the visibility that other team members need. That visibility helps us work better with other teams and make informed decisions.
Galbraith: Any final advice for organizations evaluating their data security posture?
Pallett: Try it out and take off the blindfold for a couple days. See what's really happening in your environment. You won't be disappointed.
Protecting What Matters Through Data Transparency
For Chad Pallett, building a strong data security posture starts with transparency. Understanding where data lives, how it moves, and how it is used across the organization is essential, especially as BioIVT continues to expand its use of AI.
Cyberhaven helps bring that visibility together, allowing BioIVT to proactively identify risk, support regulatory requirements, and guide better data behaviors across teams.
"Cyberhaven has been critical in our ability to build a mature cybersecurity program," Pallett says. "It brings the visibility that other team members need."
For organizations navigating complex data environments and accelerating AI adoption, Pallett's advice is simple.
"Try it out and take off the blindfold for a couple days. You won't be disappointed."
